Turning Chickens and Breaking Dishes (from the Portuguese "Virar Frangos" and "Partir Pratos") are two very popular portuguese expressions. Turning chickens refers to someone who has a lot of experience in something, - ie. has been turning chickens for a long time - while someone who is breaking dishes refers to them exceeding expectations.
